In-situ Testing
In-situ Testing
Obtaining accurate geotechnical parameters of underlying soils is critical for the design of all temporary and permanent structures; in-situ testing reduces the effect of soil disturbance and allows testing in relatively undisturbed soils when open excavations can be avoided.
These test methods include:
• Plate Bearing Tests
• California Bearing Ratio (CBR) / Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP)
We also offer several test options to provide strength profiles of underlying soils by means of:
• Standard Penetration Tests (SPT)
• Dynamic Probe Testing
• Hand Shear Vane and Pocket Penetrometer
In-situ testing also allows the measurement of permeability, ground gas concentrations and groundwater levels which are measured within trial pits or borehole installations. These include:
• Falling/rising head permeability test
• Percolation Testing
• Permeability/Soakaway Testing in accordance with BRE Digest 365
• Borehole gas and groundwater monitoring
Our test teams include engineering geologists and trained technicians, all holding appropriate CSCS qualification and trained to work in Network Rail (PTS) and London Underground (ICI-LUL) environments.
All in-situ testing is available in conjunction with our Site investigation services. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss and for a quotation today.
